Every adult who visits our school say they wish they had this high school. This fall I’ll make sure to continue what I’ve been doing for twenty years—getting compelling novels and stories and essays into the hands of young people ranging all kinds of reading, comprehending, and communicating levels, so we can have compelling, deep, philosophical discussions about themes, identities, and conflicts that they know from firsthand experiences. In our multi-leveled online classes, I’ll make sure every student has a real book in their hand to read on their own and come to class ready to share deeply about mass incarceration, police brutality, intersectionality, and so much more. I only wish all you donors could join us!
