My goal is to make every student a reader, and in order to do that, my kids need access to new and relevant reading material. I believe books should change you- and the titles on this list aren't just engaging, but they are important and center on necessary topics middle schoolers need to grapple with, discuss, and think about. While Bishops states "Reading can be mirrors, windows, or doors," I want my kids to always see life through other perspectives and experiences, because it is only through this that we can grow our understanding and empathy and make the world a better place for all.

About my class
