About my class

My project consists of a school wide incentive system that places emphasis on positive behaviors rather than negative. The current system in place rewards students at random which does not acknowledge students with consistent outstanding behavior. This new system will require students to earn "paw" currency and they may purchase various items of their choice. This project will not only endow students with a disciplinary skill set and persistence, it will also encourage physical activity to keep their minds and bodies active and healthy. I work in an urban school so there is a high percentage of low-income households and many do not have access to parks, playgrounds, etc. Therefore, many students cannot afford outdoor equipment and children tend to spend most of their time indoors and alone. This system aims to supply students with the opportunity to attain these items in hopes to change that routine. Many of the rewards will help students socialize and develop teamwork skills while keeping them active.
