While telescopes are the quintessential tool of astronomy, there are many astronomical objects that can be explored with a set of binoculars. Lightweight and portable, with a wide field of view, binoculars will enrich astronomy nights by letting more students search for objects in the night sky independently. From detailed views of craters on the moon, splitting double stars, and observing the Andromeda galaxy, to seeing thousands more stars than are visible to the unaided eye, binoculars can help to capture students’ interest, and inspire them to learn more about their place in the universe by exploring the night sky.
