I want to fill my classroom library with diverse literature. My students deserve to see themselves in the stories they read. I have chosen books that express diverse perspectives. I have chosen stories with authors of color, and focused on picking a wide variety of books. I picked some from around the world, and some taking place in the United States of America. I hope the students see that their perspectives and point of view are valid and deserve to be in print. I hope the students use these books as a launching pad to read more diverse literature. Reading increases vocabulary and makes a difference in a child's life.
