We have constantly been bombarded with the importance of reading and writing in elementary school. Tests have shown that a student who can't read by the 3rd or 4th grade will fall behind their peers in the coming year and struggle as a student. I don't want my students to fall behind. Books inspire greatness, and my students deserve to be great. Whether they allow a student who transport themselves into a new world, or escape the one they live in, books are the key to life. My students deal with so many other real life challenges, that I think they should have the opportunity to read, something many of us take for granted. They should have the same opportunities to grow and succeed that so many of us were given, and the fact that they need the books in Spanish should be applauded. My students are well on their way to becoming bilingual members of our society, they just need a little help becoming the best version of that they can be.
