Emotional regulation and ability to focus come as a challenge to many students. As the one and only School Psychologist in my building, I have a Calm Cove in my own classroom. I can teach students the skills to help them regulate emotions and maintain focus in my classroom, but with a population of almost 600 students, I can't be in all classrooms at once. Children need the opportunity to generalize those skills in other environments. By helping me with this project, I can provide each classroom with their very own "Calm Cove" in the form of a calming box. Having a calming station with a calming box in a student's classroom, will allow them to take a break without missing out on important learning! How awesome is that? I want to provide our students the very best opportunities to learn, and that means learning to effectively manage their emotions at any age! This will also allow me the opportunity to utilize those tools with students while I'm in various classrooms. Nothing is better than having the tools you need, when a teachable moment presents itself! Please help give these students the opportunity they need to do their best learning with a calmer mind and body!
