Students cannot learn if they are dysregulated. Some kids arrive at school already in a dysregulated state. Or, they come back from lunch and recess and have a difficult time transitioning into the classroom. Research has shown that access to simple calming tools can help children self-regulate and reset so they are ready to learn. Through this project, I would like to make calming tools easily accessible to students. The hope is that with calming tools readily available, they will be able to return to a regulated state quickly and engage in learning. Examples of tools that help with self-regulation are: fidget tools, weighted objects, and calming jars. Please help me to support children in being active and engaged learners!
