This project will help bring coding and STEM skills to our class of first grade students. Through active play, students will practice skills such as logical thinking, problem-solving, cooperation, and sequencing. The best part is that these coding supplies do not require any screen device (tablet, computer, etc.) or additional apps! Each of these resources include teacher guides to help integrate these STEM activities into our regular instruction time. Students learn best when they use hands-on activities and get to talk to each other to solve problems. With these extensive learning kits, students will learn valuable skills! The Botley robot has already been a fun activity for our class! We are lucky enough to have one robot now! With this project we hope to add a second robot to allow more interaction with more students as well as the additional STEM inspired obstacle course challenge set! We would also love to add the Code-and-Go Mouse robots to our classroom. Our goal is to create coding and STEM stations for students to practice skills in a variety of ways, while allowing for maximum utilization of resources for all of our students.
