My project is special and everything that I have requested will help build my student's character in a positive way. The carpet will be placed in front of the classroom, reminding the students that they will do awesome that day. In my classroom, my students pre-k-5th grade, participate in social skills groups, including sitting on bean bag chairs to get that social and emotional learning. This group has been created to provide students with extra time to learn valuable skills that will equip them with skills for life. The puppets, stuff animals will help my students engage in all the mini lessons that they will participate in. My students follow a curriculum that teaches a variety of social skills including classroom survival skills, friendship skills, decision making, problem-solving, and dealing with feelings. During our groups, my students role play, model, and discuss valuable lessons. In addition to the positive impact of learning social skills, my students who participate in the small groups often develop a stronger since of self, belonging, and generally become more positive about school. The lamps will help soothe their mind when they need that time alone to get back focused on their common goal. Overall, I want my students to feel comfortable knowing they are in a safe environment, learning the skills that will help them develop a positive self through out their lives.
