My first graders are learning to read, and my goal is to get them engaged in reading in every way possible. I want my students to love reading and identify as readers. The MP3 players will be used in a listening center during our guided reading block. The MP3 players will provide the students the opportunity to listen to the stories, as they follow along in their own books. Giving the option to "listen to reading" will help my students build their fluency and transport them to new worlds! Listening to books read aloud gives students the chance to read and engage with more challenging text, as well as hear what good reading sounds like.
