I am choosing all graphic novels because I have reluctant readers, and struggling readers. This list was compiled by other professionals in my building and from titles that were recommended by students. I want my students to enjoy reading and to feel as though reading isn't a barrier. I have also included two sets of paperbacks to do novel studies in my classroom. I have most of these students all day long. My room is self-contained for students with high behavior needs in a middle school setting. I teach all subjects to my students, and I want to be sure I am providing them with engaging material and to feel as though my room isn't a punishment, but a place to learn to grow.
