We will use the plays to read aloud in class. I want to give students a look into a period of history that was really not so long ago and use it to allow discussions about exclusion, bias and other forms of discrimination. We will rotate who reads which character to give all students practice in creating character and reading aloud. Students will then be placed in groups tasked with writing and performing a short scene using the themes we have discussed from the play, bringing in their own real world experiences and giving them the chance to express their feelings and opinions to these difficult themes.
