Before COVID-19, we were creating an Urban Garden PBL with our Tower Garden for our future 6th Grade botanists, agriculturists, and Urban Famers. We were preparing our 6th graders for the last unit of the school year: Science - Diversity of Life - Urban Gardening. Transforming my living room into our Urban Garden Lab was a small challenge, in comparison to giving my students the same opportunity to experience growing herbs, greens and vegetables at home to take on the real challenge of expanding their worldly view. With your assistance, we can continue to enrich the minds of our students remotely and also supplying them with the tools needed to succeed. With your help, our 6th-graders will receive hydroponic kits to complete an Urban Gardening PBL remotely. This free, unique remote learning program will allow our students the ability to conduct experiments and grow nutritious herbs for themselves and their families, teaching them valuable lessons of nature and nurture. Life happens, Science continues, and disappointing 6th Grade Botanist, Agriculturist, Urban Farmers wasn’t and isn’t an option. Hydroponics are compact, state-of-the-art, vertical aeroponic growing systems. They can easily fit in any home or room. It also requires much less water than traditional growing methods, and plants grown Hydroponics do not even need soil!
