The beginning of the school year is an exciting time for teachers and their students! My name is Mary Kate Newell, and I am a Kindergarten teacher at a charter school in West Philadelphia. In one short week, my new Kindergarten students will begin the school year. Some of them have gone to school before, but for many of them, this will be their first time in a school setting. I want this to be a memorable and exciting year for them! It is very important for me to create a comfortable, safe, and positive classroom environment for my students. I am hoping to raise enough money to purchase a classroom carpet where we will have the majority of our learning time throughout the school day. We will have a morning meeting on our carpet, complete calendar activities, listen to stories, do math activities, and so much more! This will be a comfortable and engaging space for my students to do their best learning. Thank you so much for your help with adding to our positive classroom environment. It is greatly appreciated!
