I am looking to start an Affinity space with the students in my school. I teach at a school that is about 98% kids of color and our teaching or leadership teams are not reflective of that. So often times student feel as if they don't have a place where they can authentically be themselves. The book that I want students to use, gives previously marginalized groups a voice. A voice that is reflective of our school population. Students will use the short stories to support discussions in the Affinity group. Either in person or remote. An Affinity space will support student's mental health in this unprecedented time.
