It is easy to connect with other subjects when a student can compare and contrast with their own life. With a variety of authentic Hispanic posters and manipulatives such as a Latin version of Bingo, students will be exposed to life in other cultures as we learn Spanish. Students are curious about how other people live, the games they play, and what landscapes look like in other countries. These items will expose students to new scenes, art work, games, and great discussion that would not otherwise happen in their regularly daily life. My goal is that students will become more aware of other people, traditions, and activities in other countries. The items will be a great jumping off point for group discussion on geography, climate, art, customs, and cultural differences in an accepting environment without judgment. By having these discussions with each other we can become more aware and sensitive to the needs of others, and become more observant in our surroundings.

About my class
