I have been so fortunate to start my first year of teaching at this amazing school in the poorest of neighborhoods, but sadly no supplies were left when the previous teacher left, and there is not enough funding to replace them As a first year teacher, I just simply do not have the money to supplement these supplies. We are requesting tempera paint, pastels and brushes. My biggest hope is that with these supplies, I can help my students see just how incredible art is, and the amazing impact it has, and hopefully pull out the creativity I know each student possesses. I many not discover the next Monet, but I can at least teach these scholars to appreciate the beauty in art and to never doubt ones own ability big or small. Everyone is an artist. I will use these materials to create a collaborative mural to hang in our hallway, and we have been learning many of the elements of art so I cannot wait to be able to show how those can be applied through awesome art projects.
