As a language teacher, I ensure that each of my daily lesson plans incorporates authentic, real-world communication tasks and learning opportunities.
A Cricut Explore Air 2 will help enhance my students' language-learning experiences.
Firstly, with this piece of technology, I will be able to create hands-on manipulatives for students to use while communicating in authentic ways in the classroom. Here are some examples of manipulatives I would like to create:
▪️Money cut-outs while students learn numbers and the currencies of
different countries
▪️Clothing cut-outs while they learn articles of clothing vocabulary
▪️Cut-outs of electronic items so they can learn and converse about
technology, prices, and common store phrases/vocabulary
▪️Greeting cards to teach students phrases for various
celebrations and situations
Secondly, I can use a Cricut for student rewards. I plan to create stickers for students' tests (such as ones that say "Good Job!" or "¡Buen trabajo!"). I would also like to make stickers for students to choose from in a prize bin, with fun designs and sayings to encourage strong study habits, hard work, and goal-setting.
Thirdly, I can use a Cricut for student projects. I can offer students the opportunity to work on their projects after school in my classroom, and they can create poster titles, stickers, picture cut-outs and more for their own projects. This will give students the opportunity to use a new piece of technology, as well as encourage their unique creativity in connection to language learning.
The Cricut will offer so many new possibilities and offer my students exciting and engaging learning opportunities!
