Reading and writing can be challenging for students, but with the help of color pencils and tracing pens students can easily keep track of the essential components of their work. Annotating the text is the key for comprehension! Color pencils although great for coloring also provide students the opportunity to interact with the text to further comprehension. For example, we use blue for unknown vocabulary and green for citing evidence. The pens, pencils, and folders not only help in learning but also with organization. Middle schoolers are not far from high school and being able to stay organized is a huge life skill. Having various folders to keep work in or being able to hole punch papers to put in our binders seems small, but can keep a backpack from being overwhelming.
