My students are eager to learn. They have a lot of curiosity. They have a ton of energy! Out of my 25 kindergarten students, 24 of them speak another language away from school. For the majority of them, this is the first time they have been away from home. Eight of my students do not speak any English and the other 16 have varying degrees of English. They will all be expected to read in English before they leave my room. My students do not have access to the Internet at home. They do not have access to tablets or laptops at home. My school is 96% free and reduced lunch. Many of our students live in apartment complexes close to the school. Sometimes more than one family will live in a two bedroom apartment. My students and their families are hardworking people that value education.
