Inner Space Cavern was hidden for over 10,000 years, and so it is one of the best preserved caves in Texas. With this project, I can give my students the opportunity to visit this gem and learn science outside of the classroom instead of sitting at their desks. Providing hands-on learning, especially in science, can have a profound effect on learning for my students. Students learn best when they’re involved in their own learning. This means getting to ask questions and have discussions and letting their senses engage. Hands-on science activities let children engage multiple senses as they observe, ask questions, touch, smell, and experiment. I believe that allowing children to really get into science gives them the chance to make discoveries on their own. They’ll be more likely to remember a learning experience if it’s a real experience.
