Our students have a passion for instrumental music, but are lacking in resources to include instrumental music in the general music classroom. Creating an Orff instrument ensemble will create a perfect gateway to beginning band, increase music literacy, create performance opportunities, and engage every student in all our classes! By adding to our existing collection, a full "Orffestra" capable of easily engaging a full class is just a few instruments away! We already have a full set of glockenspiels, two alto xylophones, an alto metallophone, a bass xylophone. By adding soprano and bass instruments, we have a full ensemble. To keep the balance between ringing metal and rich wooden resonance, we will keep a 2:1 ratio of xylophones to metallophones. The possibilities with these instruments and these students are endless. The students are ready and enthusiastic about learning and caring for their instruments. We can create a single class ensemble, or combine Orff instruments in one class with the choirs in our secondary grades, guitars or percussion in fellow elementary grades, or even create a whole-school performance. We just need your help to make these possibilities into opportunities!
