It was September, and I was thrilled to receive art supplies for my 470 new students! Once five months of art making madness passed, I realized that I simply needed more of the basics. Since I see new crop of students every ten weeks, I like to begin with these requested basic supplies and build from there. After five months of trail and error, I found the art supplies that engaged my students the most. Watercolors, crayons, Sharpie markers, clay, colored pencils, and paper are essential for artists of all ages because they are accessible and familiar. Once my watercolor unit began, it was like I was in a brand new art room! Even my most tepid artists were actively making masterpieces. I would love to use watercolors every quarter, but I need to double my existing supplies in order to make that happen. Your contributions will ensure that the next half of my students will have the same access to supplies as the first. Thank you!
