Games like Don't the Break, Pop the Pig, Snug as a Bug in a Rug, and Guess Who will give my students an opportunity to interact and learn key social communication skills. When working with my students with autism or intellectual/developmental delays, I am always looking for ways to work on turn-taking, interacting with a partner, and listening and following directions. With my older students, we work on problem-solving, working as a team, communicating with others in an appropriate way, and overall social thinking. Learning can't even begin without first catching the attention of the students. Games serve as a great motivator and practical opportunity to use these social communication skills!
