In our community, many of our students do not have access to reliable internet connections. During the pandemic, despite the best efforts of our district, many students were not able to access quality reading materials. This loss was further compounded by the fact that many of the local libraries were closed and students were in and out of quarantine. Additionally, we have found that many of our students, especially those who have an IEP or are second language learners, engage with text more effectively when it is available in both print and digital formats. We need to get low-tech, high-quality reading materials to our most vulnerable students. Scholastic Magazines would provide engaging, relevant, and rigorous reading materials for my fifth graders.
