My students work hard to compete with the other students in the General Education classes. Despite having several different learning struggles, they come back every day prepared to learn. Many of them have visual processing disorder and need to be able to hear the texts that they are reading in order to fully understand what they are studying. Having these three Chromebooks available at all times will level the playing field for my students. I will be able to provide them with a dedicated word processor that can read aloud the passages to them that they are reading in class. They will be able to refer back to different passages and replay areas of difficulty. They will be able to look at the paragraphs in different colors in order to help them process the transitions in the document. The students will be able to work independently by the use of the text to speech software. The software will not only increase their understanding of reading materials, but it will give them more confidence to share their understanding of the material in class.
