I teach the 5th Grade English/ Language Arts classes of 70 students. My students are required to take standardized state tests at the end of the year on the computer which includes a writing portion that is completely computerized. I can teach writing all day long but until students are able to apply their writing skills on a computer they will not succeed in these standardized tests. Not only in the tests, but in life. My students need to be exposed to what the 21st century will require of them- technology. Until they have properly been exposed and adapted to technology they will not be well suited for the workforce. I need computers in my classroom for my students to start preparing now. My students can practice word processing and write prompts on their computer.
