Everyday when we come into the classroom we join together on the carpet for calendar time and story time. I guess you could say that the child's place on the carpet is like their home when they are at school. They sit in the same place every day and take pride in knowing it is THEIR spot. We do not currently have enough space on our carpet to comfortably accommodate all of our wonderful students. Having a carpet big enough for all of our students to sit at would allow the students to pay more attention to the fun they are having learning. They would no longer be worried about running into their neighbor during songs and activities.
