As a middle school counselor I work with many students who have busy, loud, overstimulated, anxious minds. I would like to create an environment and experience where students could come to unplug, relax, breathe, and quite their minds. Your donation of floor mats and a sound system will be used in a room where students can come to listen to relaxation music and guided mindfulness meditations. In the process they will learn how to quite their minds and reduce their negative thoughts related to anxiety and stress through the practice of Mindfulness. I will have sessions which address Mindfulness: the practice of being aware of your body, mind, and feelings in the present moment. The goal of this project is twofold. One, to give my students tools and strategies to calm their minds and quiet their internal storms. Two, give them a sense EMPOWERMENT, and to discover the greatness within each and everyone of them.
