The rugs and furniture in the classroom have been in place for 12 years and are worn and dirty. The rugs are bright colors and the bean bags have many holes. I work with students with Autism who may struggle with sensory regulation. I also support students with orthopedic impairments. Often students will play or do therapy based activities on the floor to improve core strength. New classroom rugs will provide a clean space for students to work and play. Calming colors will help support a classroom environment that is soothing to students who struggle with emotional and sensory regulation. Bean bags are used as flexible seating, a place for breaks and to provide pressure or compression when dysregulated. These materials will contribute learning and well being of the whole classroom!
