These books reflect the cultures of my students, and its important that they see themselves represented in our classroom! I am a first year teacher and these books will help me get a strong base of culturally relevant books that I can have in my classroom library and read throughout the year. These books will provide my children an opportunity to see themselves represented in the text we read or an opportunity to learn something new about a culture that differs from their own. This will help my students learn to think globally and learn to appreciate the differences that make us who we are.
