Students and their families spend time together taking pictures of their community, cultural, and family traditions, holiday gatherings and meals. We will then print the photos in color, and compare to other artists we have studied. I have done this art project before, linked with a famous San Antonio artist, Chuck Ramirez. We went on a field trip to view his artwork at the McNay Art Museum. He did art work of celebration family meals. Our students then went home and took their own photos of their Thanksgiving dinners. We downloaded the photos and printed them in color. We had our own art show to show off our community, cultural, and family traditions.
