This year, our 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students will be participating in Read 180! Read 180 is a researched-based, multi-media intervention program that is designed to meet the needs of students who are reading below grade level. Each day, my students will participate in the program for a 110 minute block. During this time, they will be participate in whole group instruction, a small group station, an independent reading station, and a technology station. During the technology station, students use the headphones to go through the Read 180 app that is tailored to their reading level and skills. Last year, we watched students not only make huge gains in their Lexile levels and reading skills, but, more importantly, their confidence in themselves as readers and students! I know that my students this year will make the same gains if given the correct equipment. Supporting this project would be such a good investment since these students will be able to use these headphones for the next three years in our school as they participate in Read 180.
