My students struggle with reading. One reason they struggle is because they do not see themselves in the books they have been shown. I want to have books with characters and story lines to which they can more easily relate. Multiple copies of some books will allow us to read together so I can model good reading strategies and they can help each other. Single copies of other books will help keep them interested in reading and hopefully build their desire to continue reading as thy build their reading skills. The right books in the classroom will help my students develop better reading skills and, hopefully, a greater love of reading.
