Keyboards are an instrument that all students can play, regardless of intellectual ability or physical limitations. They can also choose different sounds to imitate the sounds of other musical instruments. The keyboards also have the capability of playing a background rhythm while the students plays. Playing the keyboards is a great cooperative learning activity since the students will share a keyboard with a partner and work together to create music. Also, fine motor skills can be developed as they are playing different piano keys. Finally, students will use higher level thinking skills when they play music on the keyboards by deciding what sounds and notes to use, and putting them together to create a piece of music.
