In my classroom, I try to choose novels that will be interesting and engaging to the students. One area in which many students are interested is history. My students love to learn about history, and I try to incorporate works of historical fiction on a regular basis in my class to meet this desire from my class. Many of my students love learning about the Civil War and want as many opportunities as possible to study the conflict. This novel will allow me to further implement the Civil War into my English curriculum and continue to encourage my students' reading.
