I work with students who need help with self regulation and identifying emotions. The PE teacher and myself, the counselor, want to partner to help our students make the connection between physical and mental health. The connection between movement and positive feelings can be beneficial for anyone, but especially children. Students who have suffered trauma can have a hard time during the school day. There are many things the student can not control, this can cause behavioral problems for these students. This year we are focused on helping our students who suffer from trauma to self regulate and identify their emotions using mindfulness. The PE teacher and myself would like to connect counseling lessons on mindfulness and movement of yoga. Currently we are having students do poses on the gym floor and can't do many things due to the hard floor. We are requesting yoga mats and some mindfulness materials to help our students relax. We would love to see our students thrive from the connection of physical and mental health!
