Our students use an adaptive reading program, i-Ready, to help improve their literacy levels. This is sometimes daunting for the students, and thus requires extra motivation for the students. I took a survey at the end of last school year and the results indicated that students would be proud to wear a button that advertised their achievement. First, the headphones are for the time they spend on the computer during i-Ready. The students need privacy but in a room of 30-35 students that can be difficult without headphones. Secondly, the button maker will be used by the students to create their own design. Students will earn a button each quarter they hit their target.
