With these hands on activities my students will be able to recognize upper and lower case letters they will also be able to identify the sounds of the letters and items that go with the letter and sound. Once the children have gained this skill they will be able to start writing mock words and begin emergent reading; pretending to sound words out. With the math activities they will be able to count, recognize numbers and match them to their quantity. Finally I want the children to be able to subatise (tell you the quantity of items by looking without counting)
