I feel these basic foundational math and literacy literacy skills will help promote a deeper level of understanding within my students. These can be utilized more effectively than handing out worksheets. During guided reading, while I am working with students, I like to provide my students with opportunities to understand basic alphabetic principle through games as well as math foundational skills. I have been teaching for 20 years now and have learned very quickly that my students learn more in a game atmosphere than a work she atmosphere. These games were truly help my students become independent, critical, problem solver‘s. I would truly be so grateful to have these games to help support my students academically. I can also use these games/activities for many many years. If the students need it, I can send it these games home for a week at a time. I think this will help parents understand that helping students at home does not simply mean on my work or work sheets, it can be through games. I want to ensure that my students are learning and having fun.
