Science is not in a book. Taking learning to the next level with hands-on experiments helps students understand concepts better. I will be digging into the world of chemistry by introducing my students to different chemical reactions. Hands-on labs are essential to connect science concepts to real life. The "Chemistry in the Bag" allows students to do an inquiry lab that focuses on chemical reactions such as color change, temperature change, and a gas production. "Elephant Toothpaste" gives students the hands-on experience to learn that chemical changes can produce heat and gas. "Identification of Chemical Reactions Lab" has students make their own combinations using 7 known solutions. This allows students to take learning into their own hands while identifying the chemical reactions that occurred. The "Myth Busters Chemical Reactions DVD" will show my students spectacular demonstrations and correct common misconceptions.
