I teach in an intercity school and funding for the extras if very difficult. We don't have a full time art teacher so I want to incorporate more art into the classroom on a regular basis. I truly believe that students need to be able to express themselves through art and especially with painting. They love to see their creations and to see their art displayed and then they love to take it home to share with their families. I love to do thematic projects that coincide with the month or holiday that is current as well as connecting with the reading and math instruction.
