I have had the privilege of working with speech and language impaired students for over 20 years at both the elementary and secondary level. I currently work at an elementary and middle school setting and my student's communication needs range from mild/moderate to significant. Many of my students are faced with challenges in their overall communication skills needed to meet both the academic and social demands of school. Specific areas of speech therapy target speech-sound production, voice therapy (due to vocal abuse), stuttering, language disabilities, and autism spectrum disorder. Addressing all of these needs requires an array of therapy materials to address each student’s individual needs. The resource I am requesting is an iPad because of the endless possibilities it will serve to address all of the unique speech and language needs my students currently have. The engagement alone with the plethora of apps that are available would be beyond sufficient. My students would be thoroughly engaged while addressing their speech and language goals.
