Students will use the books and the maps as we study different civilizations of the world and incorporate the five themes of geography. As a new 6th grade social studies teacher this year, I need to build a classroom library and have hands-on resources, like maps and globes, readily available for my students to conceptually understand geography and the history of the ancient civilizations. The books will be used as supplementary material when researching and learning about each civilization. Students who are Special Ed or ELL will have these books available for them, as they are easier to understand the information. The Write and Wipe World Maps and giant globe will be used daily as we study and play games around the 5 themes of Geography this year. Students need to be able to locate and identify countries, regions, oceans, rivers, hemispheres, etc.
