Simple classroom materials allow students to gain an understanding of how things work. Students like to staple their own papers and use highlighter when reading. This is something that is simple to adults, but students enjoy this simple freedom. There are simple task that my student come into the classroom not knowing about and not able to complete. Simple things, like highlighters, are not present in the home. I would like to incorporate simple things like this in the classroom. I often teach tracking when reading, using a highlighter. I also have one of the students assigned to staple papers, as one of the classroom helpers. This type of task teaches my students responsibility.
