Children can never have access to too many books. These materials will increase access and interest levels in this ambitious group of 5th graders' classroom library. I have selected books of high interest, social awareness, and pop culture to provide a more relatable read for my students. We're learning how to fall in love with reading! Who loves to read something that is of no interest? Who wants to read something that is not relatable? Growing readers learn to love to read by simply having access to books they want to read. It is my strong opinion that in order to inadvertently increase my students' Lexile levels, simply provide them with a choice of books on their individual levels that they will not be able to put down. It is my goal to place books that not only interest them but allows them to grow socially and academically, in the hands of all of my students.
