With a Chromebook, students can tap in to the power of the Internet and because the devices include keyboards, they can build essential keyboarding skills as they research, collaborate, learn, and create. In my classroom we use virtual simulations to build students’ skills and confidence before starting labs. There are virtual microscopes where kids practice how to use a microscope and build confidence before actually using one. We also use many other virtual labs which are extremely beneficial when funds are tight and access to materials and equipment can be limited. We also use Google Forms and ExitTicket to assess student understanding of material presented in class and Google Docs and Google Slides for collaborating whether in the classroom or at home. For review we use Quizizz, Quizlet Live, and Kahoot which I have found increases student engagement.
