These materials will benefit my students because many are on the Accelerated Reader List, which is a school-wide initiative. Many are also written by Latino authors, and different than the typical books they see everyday. Reading diverse books is extremely important and beneficial for all readers. When students read books written by authors who look like them, it is likely that they feel more inspired and empowered. Other books in my project are also graphic novels, which are great ways for students to understand plot, conflict, setting, and character development through the medium of graphic art and more concise sentences.

About my class
