The projects goal is to complete my classroom with tools that help learning. The calculators will allow students to work and complete problems themselves. The overall goal is to increase the amount of students entering into the STEM fields. STEM is one of the highest paid fields and could move students out of financial hardship. The first step is to get students interested in science and make it easier for them to understand. In my classroom, we introduce a lot of physics in freshman science. This type of science uses a lot of mathematical formulas to show how the natural world works. The calculators will greatly help with allowing students to work through problems and even in labs to see how mathematics translates into the real world. In my class we also discuss chemistry. The periodic table will provide a quick visual as well as a tool to calculate atomic mass, find protons, electrons, and neutrons. I periodic table is needed in all chemistry sections of my class.
